Effective shield mode: legacy Enforceable: NOThis page covers that specific case. If AgenShield reports that enforcement was paused instead, see Enforcement Paused.
What it means
The security extension needs Full Disk Access to do its job. Uninstalling AgenShield removes the extension, and removing it also removes the Full Disk Access permission that was attached to it — the permission belongs to that specific installed copy, not to the app by name. When you install again, macOS re-creates the permission entry already set to denied. Nothing turns it back on by itself. The extension activates, shows as enabled, and then retries about every 30 seconds for the whole session without ever being able to start. Your Mac is not protected while this lasts. The extension is running, but it cannot see the activity it is meant to govern.How to confirm it
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Full Disk Access.
- Look for the AgenShield security extension in the list.
- If it is present and switched off, this is the case described here.
How to fix it
Switch Full Disk Access on for the AgenShield security extension. No reinstall and no restart are needed. The extension retries on its own, so protection resumes within about 30 seconds of granting the permission.How to stop it happening again
On a Mac managed by your organization, a Privacy Preferences Policy Control profile grants this permission automatically, so a reinstall never lands in this state. If reinstalls keep turning enforcement off across your fleet, the profile is most likely missing. Ask whoever manages your Macs to confirm that both of these are deployed:- a Privacy Preferences Policy Control profile granting Full Disk Access to the AgenShield security extension;
- a System Extensions profile that includes AgenShield’s team identifier.
A message during installation that reads
Extensions: (none found) is not
this problem, and usually not a problem at all — on a guided install the
extensions are listed only after you approve them, which happens later in the
flow. Newer versions say “approvals deferred” instead.When to escalate
Contact support if:- Full Disk Access is switched on and enforcement still reports
NOafter a couple of minutes; - the AgenShield security extension does not appear in the Full Disk Access list at all;
- the Mac also reports that it is not enrolled — that is a separate problem, and
you can capture what support needs with
agenshield doctor.
