Restart required — This Mac needs a restart to finish activating the Network extension.and the menu bar posts AgenShield network filter paused. In System Settings the AgenShield network extension may be missing, and the security extension may briefly show as disabled.
What this means
macOS applies a profile update by removing everything the old profile installed and then installing the new one. Removing the system-extension approval, even for a moment, makes macOS turn off the extensions it approved. AgenShield turns the security extension back on within seconds. On affected versions, AgenShield misread the network extension’s state as waiting for a restart and did not turn it back on. After two minutes it paused the network filter so your network keeps working. Network traffic is then allowed without inspection until the extension returns. Affected: 2026.10.4 release candidates and earlier. Later releases turn the network extension back on automatically after a profile change. How to confirm
[activated enabled] and the newest one ends in
[terminated waiting to uninstall on reboot], the extension was turned off by
the profile change.
How to recover
Either of these brings the network extension back:- Run
agenshield activateon the Mac. It re-activates the extensions without a restart. - Restart the Mac. AgenShield turns the extension back on after the restart.
agenshield activate restores both.
Avoiding it
Deliver the system-extension approval in a profile you do not edit. Every change to a profile that carries it makes macOS turn the extensions off and on again. When to escalate
Ifagenshield activate reports that the network extension activates on the
next restart, and the extension is still off after a restart, download a
diagnostics bundle from the AgenShield app and contact support. See
Collecting diagnostics.
