A Windows device is in an AgenShield campaign group, but the Frontegg Portal does not show it as enrolled and protected. Delivery has five stages, and each depends on the one before it. Work through them in order and stop at the first one that fails.

1. Intune manages the device

  • In the Intune admin center, the device is listed under Devices → Windows with a recent check-in.
  • On the device, Settings → Accounts → Access work or school shows an Info button on the work or school account. Selecting Info → Sync makes the device check in now.
If either is missing, the device is not enrolled in Intune and AgenShield cannot reach it. A refused sign-in with AADSTS50076 in Entra’s sign-in logs means enrollment ran without MFA. See Prepare Intune for Windows enrollment.

2. The device is targeted correctly

  • The device belongs to exactly one AgenShield campaign group, and was added with Assign members in the Frontegg Portal. Intune’s MDM user-scope group is a different group and does not deliver AgenShield.
  • The device is not in the AgenShield — Uninstall group. If it is, the uninstall script assigned to that group removes AgenShield. Remove the device from the campaign group, then add it again with Assign members, which takes it out of the uninstall group first.
  • The push in the Frontegg Portal does not report Windows delivery as degraded. A message that the Windows release is missing MDM assets is explained in Windows release requirements.

3. The app and the configuration arrived

The app and the configuration profiles are delivered on independent schedules and can arrive tens of minutes apart. The app is installed by the Intune Management Extension, which checks in on its own schedule; restarting its service on the device makes it check in now. A device added back within about 24 hours of being offboarded may not get the app until that interval has passed; see Windows offboarding and reinstall timing. In the Intune admin center, check:
  • Apps → Windows → AgenShield Installer → Device install status.
  • Devices → Manage devices → Configuration → AgenShield Windows Policy Template and the campaign’s profile, AgenShield — <campaign name> (Windows). Review each profile’s device and per-setting status.
Some report views stay empty until you select Generate report. Generate the report and check its timestamp before reading it as current. On the device, in an administrator PowerShell session:
  1. Policy definitions. A key whose name starts with AgenShield under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\PolicyManager\AdmxInstalled shows the definitions were ingested:
  2. Enrollment settings. List the value names under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Frontegg\AgenShield:
Expect CampaignToken and CloudUrl, plus Org and PinnedVersion when the campaign sets them.
  3. Configuration errors. In Event Viewer, open Applications and Services Logs → Microsoft → Windows → DeviceManagement-Enterprise-Diagnostics-Provider → Admin. Errors there name the configuration settings Windows rejected.
  4. App installation. The Intune management extension records each download, install, and detection attempt for Windows apps in %ProgramData%\Microsoft\IntuneManagementExtension\Logs\AppWorkload.log. Search it for AgenShield and note the installer exit code; the codes are listed under Unattended bootstrap. AgenShield’s own installation logs are under %ProgramData%\AgenShield\logs\install.
Never share the values under HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Frontegg\AgenShield. CampaignToken is your campaign’s enrollment token. List names only, as above, and do not attach registry exports or screenshots of that key to a ticket.

4. The device enrolled

If the AgenShield app says Your organization already holds a registration for this device, the device was enrolled before and its old record must be revoked first; follow Re-enroll a previously enrolled Windows device, and do not enter a token. Otherwise, if the app shows a form asking for an enrollment token, the configuration has not arrived yet: go back to stage 3. Do not enter a token on a managed device. AgenShield checks again every few minutes and enrolls on its own once the configuration arrives. Run agenshield status and confirm that Cloud shows the expected organization and cloud URL. If the configuration is present but the device still does not enroll, see Windows managed installations.

5. Protection is active

Run agenshield doctor. Kernel enforcement should read driver loaded and enforcing policy. If it reports Restart required to enable kernel protection, no AgenShield driver is running and the device has not restarted since AgenShield was installed or upgraded. Intune only shows a restart notification, which is easy to miss, and does not force the restart; see Restart to complete protection. For any other required action, see Windows install warnings. After an upgrade, doctor can read driver loaded and enforcing policy before the restart: the previously loaded driver keeps protecting the device until the restart loads the updated one, and doctor cannot tell the two apart. To confirm the device restarted after the upgrade, compare its last boot time with the installation time as shown in Restart to complete protection.

When to escalate

Contact support if a device passes the checks up to a stage and that stage still fails. Include the stage, the Intune report for the app or profile, the AgenShield entries from AppWorkload.log, any matching Event Viewer errors, and a diagnostics bundle:
See Collecting diagnostics. Reference the campaign by name; never include the enrollment token.
